I live in the northeast. It gets real hot in the summer and crazy cold in the winter. We also get the occasional Blizzard and Nor’easter. Today was one of those occasions. Two feet of snow in fact. Time to break out the heavy machinery – my Ariens 11 horsepower snowblower that has been known to eat newspapers, hockey sticks and small children. But today one of the shear pins that connects the auger to the main shaft broke. I had no replacement pins either so I had to get all MacGuyver with this and figure something out and quickly. Turns out, a bolt and wingnut from a Gibraltar cymbal boom arm clamp worked like a charm! I moved a mountain of snow with this temporary bolt/wingnut in place of the shear pin.
