It’s been a wild spring when it has come to gigs. Pretty much every weekend I’ve been playing somewhere – mostly on Cape Cod, one of the best places to have gigs imo. I feel pretty lucky to have this opportunity to play so much because I know how rare it can be to find not only gigs, but in venues where the people are going wild and having fun.
A friend of mine asked me this past Saturday night during our break what is it about all this [playing drums] that keeps me going. I told her it was the reaction from the crowd mostly. When I look up and see someone having the time of his or her life on the dance floor because of what we’re playing, it all seems worth every pound of gear I lift and every hour of sleep I don’t get on a gig night. I told her I could do this every day because it’s not only a privilege to be a musician but to also have the opportunity to play in front of crazy fun crowds that react the way they do.
